Western Dark-headed Dwarf Racer

Eirenis occidentalis

This species is primarily nocturnal and rests under rocks during the daytime. It is non-venomous. Adults can reach a total length of up to 400 mm. The body is slender and elongated, with a small, flattened black-capped head, a uniformly coloured body, and medium-sized eyes. In the Kurdistan Region, it occurs in a variety of habitats, ranging from steppe landscapes to mountainous areas and forests. Its diet consists mainly of invertebrates, particularly insects and spiders.
