This species occurs in steppe habitats, foothills, and low-elevation mountainous areas of the Kurdistan Region. It is nocturnal and becomes active shortly after dusk. Its diet consists primarily of insects, spiders, scorpions, and other invertebrates, although it occasionally preys on small vertebrates. In the KRI, it is widely distributed across the steppe and foothill habitats of the Garmian area, as well as Sulaimani, Erbil, and Duhok governorates.
